Homeschoolers Win Ribbons in Photo Exhibit |

November 30, 2007 - Homeschoolers Abby Bartlett, Heather McDaniel, Ashley Joye and Megan Joye won ribbons in an art exhibit at the Academy Days homeschool co-op at the end of fall semester 2007. They and 11 other high schoolers submitted their photographs in a competition and exhibition following a 14-week digital photography class.
Abby, 14, won a yellow ribbon in the color category for “Zinnia in Bloom,” which displays red flowers from her garden. She is in the 8th grade. Heather's photo, entitled “Jelly Fishing,” won a red ribbon in the nature category. The 9th grader, who is 15, took the picture of the swimming jellyfish at the Georgia Aquarium. Ashley, who is in the 9th grade, captured blue ribbons in the nature and portrait categories. “My Umbrella” is a picture looking up through the leaves of a tree in her backyard. “Shaken” is a unique self-portrait of the 14-year-old. Megan, 17, also won two blue ribbons. “Rouge,” in the color category, is a photograph of red flowers. “Good Morning from God,” in the scenery category, is the sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico taken from Orange Beach. She is in 11th grade. The Academy Days homeschool co-op, held weekly during the school year, is designed for high school and elementary students to learn subjects difficult to teach at home or best taught in group settings. |
