![]() November 30, 2008 - After collecting swabs from various common areas, Robert Pettitt, 14, and Caleb Pettitt, 14, prepare cultures under the guidance of their co-op teacher, nurse Lori Herring, during health class at the Academy Days homeschool co-op.
To learn more about germs, homeschoolers in the health class took swabs from a light switch, bathroom faucet, doorknob, jacket sleeve and even the bottom of a purse. The dubious winner with the most germs? The bottom of a purse! The jacket sleeve ran a close second, followed by bathroom faucet and doorknob. Held weekly during the school year at Grace Community Church in Millbrook, Academy Days co-op is designed for high school and elementary students to learn subjects difficult to teach at home or best taught in group settings. |
